Saba Dalem Bali Temple Ceremony at Menyali Village
Bali Island is a small island with the only Hindu majority population among Indonesia Archipelago . Small Island lies between Java Island in the west and Lombok in the east . Our population is approximately 5 million persons which is approximately 90 % Hindu Bali Population . Some of them are Muslim , Chinese Buddhist and also Christianity and we live in a good harmony . Its a peaceful and beautiful island to live indeed .
On this article I would like to share my experience attending an unique village tradition of Saba dalem Bali Temple ceremony . This tradition could be not seen in another village , a yearly temple celebration at one of the trinity village Temple . The temple is call Pura Dalem , Temple where we worship the God on his manifestation as Lord Siva .
Every family will bring their offering to the temple and find a good place for the offering at the temple . After that they will dress us and get ready for the celebration

Saba Dalem Bali Temple Ceremony | Bali Culture and Tradition
Yes the only unique tradition which happening in my wife village . I feel such a lucky person to have her as my wife , she is beautiful and were born in a beautiful small village with very rich Hindu Bali Culture and tradition . Menyali village is one of village in the north Bali , lies on the slope of the mountain approximately 3 – 4 hours drive from Bali international airport . Most of the villager are a farmers and the loungers are working in the tourism industry in south Bali . Other than that for living the villagers has a great skill , talented of making a offering basket using Aluminum . This handicraft industry are growing fast and peoples founded a new design of not only for basket but other handicraft things from Aluminum .
Man and Woman are involved for the offering preparation . Helping and work together is a great family tradition . This tradition bring them together in one day , be together as one big family even some of them are living away from the house compound.
Good man have to know how to carry the offering in this way , a woman way …. ohhhh man , do I have to do this ? My wife said that I must , she said ” do it and show you love to me ” ohh my God
Saba Dalem Bali Temple Ceremony | Bali Culture and Tradition
So lets get back to our experience during Saba Dalem Bali Ceremony in my wife village . That day was on Saturday , 26th May . According to Bali Caka calendar is on the first day of the 12th month , the month call Asade ( the month number 12 ) . Caka cullender is a Hindu cullender which is using full moon rotation . During this day every family preparing their offering at home from morning time . Before that family will cook a special food for a whole of the family . A man will in charge to do all the cooking preparation , they start at early morning by slaughtering pork , chicken and preparing the vegetables . During this time a whole family will gather at the house compound , some of the family members who are living away from the village will also coming back home for this celebration .
Sitting down in front of the offering and wishing a good for all . To thanks to our ancestor spirits
They also put coca cola and other soft drink and also beer and cigarette . All this offering to thanks to our ancestor spirit . Of course after the offering we will the one who will enjoy and eat all this offering with our whole family .
To be a great man in Bali have to know how to cook also
Around 3 pm when the offering is done than family will bring the to the temple . Again the man have to carry the offering just in case our wife can’t handle it . But most of the man will do because the offering is such huge and also tall with various kind of fruits , some with soft drink can , Balinese cake and also meats . Here usually they make two offering , one offering with only fruits and cakes and the other one with grill meat of chicken or duck and also bailed egg , sate lilit . This offering will placed at the outer yard of the temple .

This offering during Saba Dalem Bali Temple Ceremony is actually focusing to thankful to all our ancestor . We invite them to come , attending and enjoying the celebration . This offering is the way how we express our gratitude to all our ancestor . Every member of family will in charge to stay in front of the offering which is last until midnight . During this time also every person of the family member will come to pray to God in the main area of the temple . After that they will come to their family offering which is placed outside the main yard of the temple to pray to their ancestor .
